Welcome to the village of Ban Bang Phlap

The Ban Bang Phlap community is an outstanding example of agritourism and a fascinating window into farming lifestyles in Thailand. The main occupation in this community is mixed farming of pomelos and coconuts, from which coconut sugar is made. The Ban Bang Phlap community also grows bananas, mangos, and a piquant and fragrant local variety of lychee. The community focuses on traditional organic farming techniques, ensuring safety for both producers and consumers. These techniques also benefit the environment and promote sustainability, following His Majesty Rama IX’s Sufficiency Economy principles. Ban Bang Phlap Community has been awarded by the government as an outstanding exemplar of a Sufficiency Economy village and of green community farming and as an Outstanding Self-Reliant Model Community. It has also received many awards for tourism from the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Recommended tourist activities in Ban Bang Phlap include tasting fresh coconut water from the garden and cycling through pomelo orchards. You can watch locals making coconut sugar from the nectar of the coconut flower, sweetening bitter fruits and vegetables using a local technique known as “reincarnated fruit”, making decorative charcoal from fruit, and making traditional kites and musical instruments. You can try your hand at making Thai desserts with coconut sugar and preserving eggs using salty soil from termite mounds. And there are also organic products from the community for you to buy at reasonable prices, such as fresh nectar from coconut flowers, coconut sugar, organic pomelo lotion, and coconut flower vinegar.
